Do you want to help improve the quality of life for shelter animals? This online…:: I believe that dogs deserve to have the best lives possible. That’s why I apply the best training techniques to motivate your dog, inspire you as a dog owner and help foster a better relationship between you both.
It didn’t come as a surprise to anyone when I became a Certified Canine Training and Behavior Specialist. For many years dog training was just a hobby, but while volunteering with Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue I soon realized that helping humans and dogs communicate better is the best way to saving these amazing dogs’ lives and decided being a Dog Trainer was the path for me.
This brought me to the largest and most comprehensive dog training school in the world, Starmark Academy. My search for knowledge never ends and I have continued my education and growth as a trainer to find more ways to help you and your dog live the best life possible. You can read more about my continued education here.
Over the years, it’s been an honor to help dogs with separation anxiety become more comfortable in their homes when they’re alone; teach dogs in multi-dog households how to live peacefully with each other; help dogs understand how to come when called; and even how to walk calmly on the city street near other dogs. But one of the most rewarding achievements is helping dogs overcome their fears, enabling them to become confident and happy dogs. Seeing humans learning to communicate properly with their dogs, for me, is what it’s all about.

Do not let your dog “lean” on you either when you are standing up or sitting down. This is not a sign that they like you. This is a sign of dominance. The dog is encroaching into your space. You are the leader. Stand up and let your knee or foot nudge them out of your space. Praise the dog for getting up. Give the dog a command to lay down on their bed or go to their crate if you need to manage your personal space more effectively.
If using hand signals, be sure they are unique and distinct for the dog to see and differentiate. There are standard dog training signals used for basic commands like “sit,” “stay,” etc. If you are unsure, ask your trainer or look online or in a book for a clearer picture of the body language to use.
Be kind but a little firm.
